It would seem that getting rid of fear is the way to happiness, but that is only half the way to happiness. It was much harder for me to realize that hope can be crueler than fear. Suffering occurs when we don't accept things as they are, so where there is hope, there is fear, and vice versa. This painting represents the journey through fictitious, illusory doors, beyond the limitations of both fears and hopes.
